Description

Who is this product for? This concentration is ideal for adult cats weighing between 1–3 kg, without neurological FIP symptoms. As treatment progresses and your cat regains appetite and muscle mass, body weight will increase — making regular weighing essential. Weigh your cat weekly and adjust the dose accordingly using our dosage calculator.

What results should I expect? Most cats show visible signs of improvement within the first vial. Early indicators of a positive response include a returning appetite, increased physical activity, reduction or resolution of fever, and a resumption of normal self-grooming behavior. These signs are encouraging and typically appear within the first several days of treatment.

Treatment Info

GS-441524 is an antiviral medication used for the treatment of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a serious and historically fatal viral disease caused by a mutated strain of the Feline Coronavirus (FCoV). GS-441524 works by inhibiting viral replication, allowing your cat's immune system to recover and fight the infection effectively.

FIP occurs in two primary forms — wet (effusive) and dry (non-effusive) — as well as a neurological form affecting the brain and spinal cord. GS-441524 has demonstrated efficacy across all forms of FIP when administered at the appropriate dose and duration.

Treatment requires a minimum of 84 days of daily injections. Cats with neurological FIP typically require a higher concentration and may need an extended treatment course. Regular monitoring by a veterinarian throughout treatment is strongly recommended to assess response, adjust dosage as your cat's weight changes, and manage any side effects.

With timely diagnosis and consistent treatment, the majority of FIP-positive cats achieve full remission.

FAQ

How long is the treatment? The standard treatment course is 84 days. However, actual duration varies by cat — factors such as the severity of the FIP infection, how quickly your cat responds to treatment, and your cat's age, breed, and overall health all influence the final duration. Your veterinarian is best placed to determine the appropriate length of treatment for your cat's specific situation.

Can GS-441524 be used alongside other medications? Yes. GS-441524 is an antiviral and can generally be used alongside other medications to support your cat's overall recovery. Two exceptions worth noting: lysine is not recommended for concurrent use with GS-441524, and interferon has not been shown to have any effect on FIP and should not be used as a substitute or supplement to treatment.

What should I feed my cat during treatment? Fresh, natural foods are recommended — cooked fish, chicken, and similar whole-food options are well tolerated by most cats undergoing treatment. If your cat develops diarrhea, temporarily switching to dry cat food for a few days usually helps until the episode resolves. Maintaining good nutrition throughout the 84-day course supports recovery and treatment tolerance.
